The Leading Insolvency Practitioners in Croydon and Eastbourne
09/09/09
Brand Equation Limited
Appointed liquidators of a strategic branding company with very large clients; regrettably these included XL Leisure, Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander and RBS, all of which were decimated suddenly by the recession. A sad but classic example of the domino effect.

Box Sash Willy’s Joinery Limited
Surely the best name of the year. Appointed liquidators of a company with a highly skilled workforce making bespoke double glazed replacement units for box sash windows. The company traded successfully for fifteen years until its margins were eroded by overseas competition.

MBC Independent Financial Management Limited
Appointed liquidators of an FSA regulated company which arranged pensions, insurance and investments for retail customers. The company’s brokers were lured away by a competitor, destroying the future of the business. However, the director acted early and called in Herron Fisher before the situation became too desperate; serious losses were averted.

BE Sport Limited
Appointed liquidators of another unusual company – one which provided promotional sporting events to companies such as Playstation and Dannone. These were promotional exercises for the clients concerned. The company’s assets, which were sold, included huge inflatable football pitches, which needed eight men to lift them even when deflated.
11/06/09
Lion Bridge Ventures Limited
Appointed liquidators of a very unusual company with a Ghanaian subsidiary which ran a jatropha farm. Jatropha is a plant whose seeds produce biofuel – a cleaner and greener alternative to oil. Although several interested parties emerged, the difficult situation with the local workforce and the tribal elders in Ghana was a stumbling block. The subsidiary was, however, sold successfully in the end.

Face Place Limited
Appointed liquidators of a facial spa and beauty parlour. Although well known in the area, its business was badly affected by the recession and it was forced to close.
08/04/09
FMCG Direct Limited
Appointed liquidators of a company supplying promotional goods to motorway service stations (did you ever wonder where all those indispensable things in the foyer came from?). After Moto withdrew its contract the company was forced to close.
03/03/09
Profiles PR Limited
Appointed liquidators of a recruitment agency specialising in PR staff. There was a dispute between the directors and the company was forced to liquidate in order to bring a resolution to the situation.
20/03/09
Matchmaker M/C Limited
Appointed administrators of a large dealer in CNC machines, which had fallen into difficulty due to its onerous defined benefit pension scheme and underutilised premises, following a management buyout from its Japanese owners. The business was sold successfully.
10/03/09
Golf Holidays Abroad Limited
Appointed liquidators of a travel agent offering bespoke overseas trips. The company collapsed due to the collapse of the pound relative to the euro. Due to the assistance of ABTA, no holidaymakers were stranded.
27/01/09
Balmlane Limited
Appointed administrators of a company that arranged large corporate events. Despite the scale of its operations, there was no contractual commitment from its clients; hence, continuity was key as if the clients were let down they would simply walk away. An immediate sale to a purchaser who could sustain the ongoing business – which was cash negative in the short term – was essential. The business was advertised and sold without leaving anyone in the lurch.
